Tech Designer / Drafter (CATIA)

Our client specialises in the design and production of high quality components and systems for applications in the civil and defence Aviation / Aerospace markets. With over 50,000 staff and customers in 150 countries they are suppliers to a large majority of the world's aircraft manufacturers, and support equipment in the field with airlines and air forces worldwide.Our client is globally recognized for their international leadership in aircraft fuel systems including fluid power, electrical distribution and control, and sensor components and systems, and they have unique expertise in bespoke engineering on many of their products including ducting, actuation and control systems in aero engines.

Primary Function:

Creation and modification of 2D drawings using CAD software. Creation of solids models and assemblies from layouts provided by engineering. Completion of Engineering Changes on existing product with a requirement of ensuring that all details on the print (including BOM, notes, dimensions, change notice information etc.) are complete. Interaction with the Project Data Management systems to receive, work on and then submit to process flow to next activity. Employee will be expected to learn, recognize and understand the various products, how they function and where they are used. Employee should also gain a good understanding of Clients BOS system and philosophy, strive for constant improvement and participate in a team-oriented approach to improve existing products.

Essential Functions:

o Prepare/check installation, new assembly, subassembly, and detail drawings and review/check existing drawings and other documents according to Eaton's Engineering Standards.

o Ensure clarity and accuracy of drawings.

o Provide producibility, design-for-manufacturing, and production readiness reviews.

o Provide technical support internally and externally.

o Prepare/review project requests to ensure all information is clear and all requirements are understood.

o Maintain Eaton Engineering Design Standards up-to date.

o Check co-workers projects for accuracy prior to final release as required.

o Prepare and control customer SDRL deliverableso Bill of Material managementSpecialised Knowledge:" Associated degree in Drafting Technology, Mechanical Design or equivalent work experience." Catia V5 solids modeling, Catia V5 Drafting, CADAM drafting, GD&T, PDM system Matrix 1; blueprint reading and mathematical skills" Applied knowledge in mechanical component design and detailing or equivalent.
